African Bar and Grill and Ginger Beer!

Happy Friday to you all! Are you excited it’s Friday? Did you have yourself a fabulous week? I’m excited it’s Friday, but I did have the day off yesterday since I work Saturday….so I guess it doesn’t really feel like a typical Friday to me. I had a great and relaxing day off yesterday. It began by taking a 5.5 mile speed walk! It started as  I’ll just walk to here, but I wanted to see where the path went, so I went to the road, and then I saw I was only 1 mile away from the city park, and then I got to the city park and wanted to walk around the lake….so that’s what I did with my amazing and wonderful walking buddy, Telli! It’s a good thing I was trying to walk fast, as it seemed to make Telli feel like she wasn’t pulling as hard…but man, that was tough hanging on to her for that long!

It was a great morning for a walk, a little humid, but cooler and cloudier than most mornings we have had lately! I unfortunately didn’t get any pictures of Telli at the lake. It was hilarious and I’m sure the crowd enjoyed watching me maneuver Telli. I don’t quite trust Telli off-leash yet, and technically she’s not supposed to be off leash anyway, but I really wanted to just let her play in the lake. She was only wearing her 6 foot leash, and she so badly wanted to jump and play through the water, but I was trying not to get myself pulled in…too bad no one had us on video, that would’ve been a Friday funny! 🙂

Needless to say, by the time I got back home I was starving! I hadn’t eaten anything yet, as I didn’t think I was going to go that far… I put Telli on the patio and made myself a delicious breakfast of Fage yogurt, raspberries, bananas and walnuts! It was so deliciously refreshing!

2013-08-22 09.38.16

I was really hoping the sun was going to peak out-so I could get some pool time in on my day off! No sun ever came out, so I thought, well why not, I’ll just go down and chill in the hot tub. God must’ve really known how much I wanted to go in the pool. As soon as I got the pool the clouds cleared and it was sunny, blue skis for about 1.5 hours!!! Woo-hoo!!!! Sunny pool time for me!

Telli was wiped when I got back, she didn’t move for a long time…..she’s so cuuute!

We had dinner plans, and we were so excited! Our friends are moving to Kenya, Africa next week! It’s crazy, we just met them 8 months ago and have been there since they first got the thought, to the many prayers to the packing up and leaving for Africa! They are going over there to help with the Agape International ministry  organization, and they don’t have a time frame of coming back yet…..They are buying a car, house, everything over there! What a great testament of faith it has been to see them go through with this process!

Anyway, we made dinner plans with them to go to an African restaurant! It was a drive for all of us, in a part of town that we’ll just say isn’t the best part of town. After some traffic issues we arrived to a little hole-in-the-wall, authentic African Grill and Bar! We were immediately greeted by Osei (I think that’s how he spelled it). He is originally from Ghana and was explaining to us how the restaurant came about and that they are expanding and building another one about 20 miles away! There were three couples and we had to wait 20 minutes for the final couple to get there…..but don’t worry, we were entertained by Osei! He explained the ENTIRE menu! I was very grateful to see him explain what we were looking at….but he gave stories, told us of what the people in Africa did to make some of the different dishes, etc….WAAAAY in-depth explanation of the menu. It was interesting to hear for sure! By the time the final couple got there, we were only on the second page of the 3 page menu in explanation. We tried some appetizers of Keleweleh (not sure on spelling) It was fried plantains with peanuts! Very delicious and would get again. We also ordered some Chicken and Goat Kabobs and our dinners. I got to try ginger beer! I heard so much about it and it was just as delicious as what people have told me! It was very sweet, gingery and delicious!

2013-08-22 18.40.57

My dinner, I don’t remember what it was, but in english it was “flat pancakes and beef stew.”

2013-08-22 19.47.12

The “flat pancakes” were delicious! I ate them right up. They kind of had the texture of a crepe, the taste of a sweet tortilla chip and were perfect to dip in the beef stew. The stew was ok….nothing to crazy or flavorful. One of the guys ordered Fufu (Smashed plantain with soup and chicken), it looked so good! I want to go back just to try that…I’m sorry, I didn’t get a picture…but I promise we’ll go back to try it!

Well I think that sums it up, enjoy your Friday and weekend!!!!

❤ God Bless

Guess what day it is!!

HUMP DAY!!!!!!!! Every Wednesday one of my co-workers comes into the office saying this, just like he is the camel on the Geico commercial! I love it, and laugh every time!

A little bit of life lately….

My attempt at running…..

If you’re wondering about my running…..yeah, it’s not going to happen right now. After a couple of runs following my train for a 5k program I began to have a lot of pain in my hips and ankles. And I’m not talking a little sore here or there, but such pain that I wanted to go to the doctor (but was too stubborn) as always to go. From my experience as a diver and gymnast, I feel like I know the difference between being sore from doing something too much or that is new, and something that is going to result in an injury/injury itself. I diagnosed myself and decided to delay the running….just for now. BUT I began using our apartment facility gym and I love it! Already I’ve spent 45 minutes each morning doing a 30 minute elliptical workout followed by strength training! I feel great! I feel sore-which is the best feeling ever! I think if I can strengthen my muscles, I WILL RUN ONE DAY! 🙂

Telli at her favorite Dog Park….

I took Telli to her favorite dog park last week-the one in Evergreen we used to always go to when we lived up there! Her nose was sniffing as we entered Evergreen, I think she could really smell the fresh mountain air! When I took off her leash, she took off in her all out happy sprint. She’d run back to me with a big smile on her face-“thanks mom for bringing me here!”

2013-08-14 09.14.46 2013-08-14 09.17.09 2013-08-14 09.19.14

Look at her go! I was enjoying the beautiful scenery and the fresh air. I couldn’t help but smile the entire time I walked around on the trails. It’s one of those things in life that I don’t think we realized how lucky we were to live up there. It was so green, so fresh, and the perfect mountain temperature-not city hot! It rained the night before, so the trail had a touch of moisture, that made it the perfect hiking/dog park experience…and Telli was in heaven!

And this just sums up our day at the dog park! We had a fun mommy/daughter day!

2013-08-14 12.23.32

Well I think this has already been a long enough, but I will do an update on our food lately..with an overnight oats recipe I created and love! Be sure to check back in for that one.

That was a beast of a run

Good morning! Happy Monday morning and I hope yours is off to a great start! Sometimes it’s so easy to complain about a Monday morning…I mean you have to wake up to go to work and not relax, have fun and continue in the weekend fun. I saw this on Pinterest and I love it! It’s a great reminder to not complain but to thank God for waking you up to enjoy another day in his beauty and glorifying him in all that you do!

Keep calm

Just have an extra cup of coffee if you need a little more motivation!

My workout…my walk/run

So it was Week 3  Day 1 of my 5k running training. I had been feeling pretty good on all of my other trainings so far, but man the one I did yesterday was brutal! I kept putting my run off (blaming it first on wanting to sleep in on the weekend, then the higher temperature in the middle of the day–and finally at just after 7 I got my workout clothes on, my shoes laced up and I was ready to go! There is always a 5 minute walking warm-up and I kinda thought it could be a rough run based on how tired I felt, but I was hoping I just needed to stretch my muscles out a little bit…nope! I started the run and just tried to focus on my pace and my breathing and listening to my rocking playlist! I was able to zone in, which helped but this week was definitely a step-up in intensity compared to the last couple runs. The program had longer running intervals and it was overall 10 minutes longer. I know I need to increase time, mileage, and intensity to get better, but I thought it might come a little easier. I averaged my best minutes/mile so far…so I must be getting better!

Food Lately

Nate and I went to a tavern (italian/Irish pub) on Saturday night. We really just wanted to try their beer that we heard so much about! Check out this Guinness beer list! I love Guinness mixed with other beers so this beer list just looked awesome to me!

2013-08-10 19.24.17

I was going back and forth between the Chocolate Covered Cherries, the Guinness Latte, Guinness Shandy or the Trojan Horse. I asked our waitress and she said her favorite by far was the Chocolate Covered Cherry… that’s what I went with! It was okay….I will probably try something different next time I go.

2013-08-10 19.23.43

We had a modge-podge of a dinner that included a mushroom, Italian meat (similar to prosciutto) brick-oven cooked flat-bread pizza. I really wanted veggies so we ordered a side of steamed seasonal veggies and my favorite-sweet potato fries! 🙂

2013-08-10 19.41.09 2013-08-10 19.40.45

Since we had leftover pizza, we of course had Pizza Eggs the following morning!!!

Our Sunday–I’ll make it brief, because I know this post is getting long……

We took Telli to the dog park….and they had the coolest cattails in the fields!

2013-08-11 14.58.31

We took Telli to get a bath because she hadn’t had one in awhile, and was kinda stinky! 😉 It’s always an adventure giving her a bath–because she hates it! We both got nice and wet and she gets lots of treats… 😉

2013-08-11 16.06.36

We got home, made pizza eggs, watched some tv and then I got ready for my brutal run! 😉 When I got back I new something was going on with Nate–his face looked sad. He proceeded to tell me he lost his wedding ring and thinks it’s where we took Telli to get a bath-since he took it off his hand to wash her. They were already closed so we couldn’t go there, however he remembered handing me the car keys in the parking lot and thinks it could’ve fallen out at that point…so we drove to the parking lot, prayed that God would make it so pink and sparkly neither of us could miss it. Well at the same time, we spotted it! Sitting in the middle of the parking lot!

2013-08-11 20.11.04

Crazy! But so glad we found it!

I’ll end this post with that…..because it’s Monday, and God woke me up to enjoy his beauty and to glorify him in all I do today! I hope you have a great day!

What do you do to get through tough runs? Have you ever lost anything and had to re-trace your steps to find it?

Determined to be a runner

And I am as far away from this statement as I could be right now.

Sometimes I feel like I’m in pretty good shape- I mean I love hiking, biking, walking and now that I have access to a gym-lifting weights! You’ve read about a couple of my at-home workout regimens….or my hiking experiences….or my attempts at running, but truth be told, I’m not a runner and never have been. I mean I remember going for runs in high school and college occasionally. It was only about 2-3 miles at a time, nothing crazy…but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. And currently I can’t even run a mile! I see so many friends and family completing 5k’s, 10k’s, 1/2 marathons and full marathons. I mean if my brother can do a marathon surely I can train to run more than 2-3 miles. But I’m being very realistic and starting slow-I am determined, and I don’t want to get burnt out before I even get going.

There is a feeling that I get when I run! I can clear  my mind. I can think freely. It’s a moment of time to myself. I say moment right now, because I still don’t run very far….but I will!

SO I downloaded an app to help me along this journey. I’m that person that can be so excited for something that I put too much into it at the beginning and get burnt out really quickly. So this app is great, it helps me be realistic, while pacing myself to stay on track! It is the red rocks app and I am using the run a 5k version. (You gotta start somewhere right?) I really like it, I only had one glitch so far-that to be honest got me very frustrated and I was ready to throw my phone in every different direction. It’s a great way to get in the zone. I am currently doing 30 minute sessions and there is a voice that says when to jog and when to walk while your playlist is going in the background! Talk about some good motivation to keep going and to be in the zone and not be distracted by looking  at a watch, playing with music, etc. I just go…..and that’s what is most important right now!

2013-07-28 14.41.28

Well it’s been a week, and I’m proud to say I haven’t missed a day or slowed on any walk/run yet!! 🙂 And the running segments are getting easier! Whoop-whoop! I’ve been able to enjoy different routes, different terrain and so much beauty on runs! I have typically been going either at sunrise or sunset (when it tends to be a little cooler!)

2013-07-28 19.24.18

I love all the sunflowers that are in full bloom around our neighborhood!

2013-07-28 19.24.34

I know they’re weeds, but at least they are pretty and not in my yard! 😉

Telli the terror

Yes, that’s right she hasn’t been so sweet this week. I tried taking her on my first run which was a disaster. She chases all the bunnies and pulls so much, she is an impossible running partner. And for me who needs to focus on each aspect of this running plan, I haven’t taken her with me anymore because of her distraction. It just means I get more exercise by taking her for other walks!

2013-07-31 06.56.15

She has also been on a chewing frenzy! A cable to the tv, an ottoman, our “shoe basket” and my flip-flop! My new flip-flop! My cute flip-flop! I have only had these for two weeks and they are destroyed!!! 😦 so sad….tear…..

2013-08-01 10.54.34

Well I hope you all had a fabulous week! I am very thankful it is Friday because I have a three day weekend ahead of me with no firm plans! I know I want to go to the farmers market and am planned to deliver dinner to a friend who just had a baby….but other than than, the weekend is mine!!!!!! Can’t wait to recap you all on it!

Have you ever started a running program? Any advice on what I should do? I’m also in need of amping up my playlist so if you have any recommendations, I’d really appreciate it! 🙂

❤ God Bless

Oh where, oh where has this little blog been…..

Good morning to you all! It sure is a beautiful morning….until the heat comes out AGAIN today! It think it’s supposed to get near 100! Ooofta! Anyway, I’m sorry it has been a while,  it has been a whirlwind around our house lately and I have just been too busy and when I’m not busy too tired to write anything.

I love where I live……but not for long…..fingers crossed.

Here’s the culprit:

We are under contract with our house!!! It came about rather quickly. If you’re not aware there is a make me move option on zillow that allows people to see that you have an interest in selling your house. I wasn’t completely sold on going through everything that needed to be done to sell the house yet and therefore had no intentions/preparedness to sell. A couple in our small group recently sold their house and it was under contract within a couple hours of the listing!!! The Denver market is crazy right now! At just about the same time we received an email that someone was VERY interested in our house. She looked at it, loved it and now were just waiting for the inspection and appraisal! We appreciate any prayers.

Needless to say, our life has been a mix of de-cluttering

organizing, painting trim, adding closet doors,

multiple trips to good will, multiple trips to our new storage shed,

zqs-AyhdZzLRhsBg-Mnj5HktV3-htIeAu3lIOQE94a4 FRajnpgG8TdbxZ6axaAj_zzd3Kcksj-asgiflQ3esBk PtJn13UMsRb-w5pgzYhAZzZ0opogOIXo7yvXqFPDsdU cleaning, cleaning, cleaning and still trying to keep Telli entertained through all of this with trips to the dog park!

cquFI1wDKcdVeGMVF1iQbcF0b-dxIWhDVOXF_V5A6FE,YWn6KTydb27OBomuwLf66re5uaSzpUvw8M_HxVxpIq0 mAWAy30vLrD-hHbDWT4JirgMGOe6viRFcKu99xVoPA0

She’s so silly…..but she LOVES the dog park—and the creek that runs through it!

So besides that my life has been pretty boring…..I will be honest, a true workout has not existed in a couple weeks. When I have tried to take Telli for a brief walk, we tend to meet up with the neighbor dogs, and then they just play until they are worn out. So much for some exercise for me!

Breakfast I’ve been making oatmeal and and dinner has typically been pasta, cereal, eggs or a salad-whatever is quick, easy–even some sushi rolls from the grocery store (yes I was hesitant at first, but boy they are delish!)

Oh and I can’t forget, it was my birthday yesterday and in the midst of all that’s going on, Nate woke up early to make me breakfast before an early morning work meeting, and he took me to Menchies for some frozen yogurt! What an amazing man I have! I got the dole whip (mmmmmm….my favorite!) with almonds and lots of nerds! 🙂 Such a kid I can be sometimes!

I hope I don’t leave you all for that long of a period again, but if I do, I hope you understand! I miss you and I miss my blog! 🙂

Have you ever sold a house before? Stressful or a breeze?

God Bless ❤

Total Body Buster Workout

Good morning! I hope you all woke up on the right side of the bed and are enjoying your morning cup of joe! I woke up and enjoyed my morning cup of coffee while watching the news. When I felt a little more awake I got ready for my morning workout! 6 workout days in a row–whoo-hoo! go me! 🙂 My body is definitely tired, so I will be taking a rest day tomorrow.

Todays workout was a total body buster, and boy it was tough! My heart rate was pumping and I was sweating. I got this workout from Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers. She has great circuit workouts on her blog and she shared this one after doing this workout with others at the gym.

I didn’t think it was going to be too bad, but any workout that includes burpees I should know WILL be tough! Also, jumping jacks have never seemed so difficult to do before….when they come after burpees and your body is feeling like jelly towards the end of the circuit, the basic jumping jack becomes seemingly difficult! 🙂 *****Quick side note, my niece is learning how to do a jumping jack. She says and does the motions to; Star, Statue, Star, Statue, etc….. it’s really cute to watch her learn to do jumping jacks. Do you remember learning how to do a jumping jack?

There was so much fresh fruit at the the store on Sunday, we picked up a whole bunch! Oatmeal is my go-to breakfast in the morning right now, so it wasn’t any other way today! I made my oatmeal (I know, you can’t really see the oatmeal part.) Toppings for my oatmeal included; chia seeds, flaxseed, strawberries, almond butter, banana and walnuts…..mmm…mmm….delish!

I also had a little smoothie leftover from yesterday, so I sipped on the leftovers during breakfast! This was a great smoothie; I am newly addicted to the green smoothie concept, I just added more berries so it overtook the “green” look! My smoothie yesterday included coconut milk (adds the perfect taste to any smoothie), spinach, kale and frozen mixed berries!

Recently, I have been making this smoothie in the morning and taking it to work. After being refrigerated for a couple hours it makes the perfect mid-morning, energy-booster, snack!

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day!

Do you have a go-to breakfast? Do you make green smoothies?

❤ God Bless

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s, gramma’s mother-in-laws, and future mom’s out there! Although I don’t like the concept of having only one day to celebrate mom, it is a great way to make sure she is celebrated and honored for all she does! Mother’s are so important and I am so blessed to have such a wonderful mother, gramma’s and mother-in-law in my life. I hope one day I can be half the mother my mom was to me! Nate and I weren’t able to be with our mother’s on mothers day, but we were happy to spend last weekend at my parents and will be going down to Texas in mid-June to see Carla!

If you recall in my last post, I told you I had a great adventure planned for yesterday. Nate is a car guy. Anything with a big engine he knows. For Christmas, my brother-in-law, sister-in-law and myself bought him a half-day driving experience. We got to do just that yesterday! We arrived and jumped into our convertible top (Even though it was 8am and still a little chilly, I definitely wanted the top down!) CORVETTE, with a supped up engine! They did let us check out the other cars in their fleet, unfortunately, I couldn’t afford to buy him the driving experience in the Ferrari or Lamborghini..but he got to stand by them!

EKiiDBryScS-mJslNivglZgvqYwq_8BYf278DMDLA1k            uLPex431L6J4sIOD4BmfLzQCfNTYyHYbDBw1IvvtDiw

We headed out onto one of my favorite roads just west of Denver. It is a beautiful highway that winds through the cliffs and follows the river, it was gorgeous! The best part about buying this gift for Nate, was the fact I got to enjoy it with him!
CtKx7EbrPqXIysE0GaOvg7JB-bo90Lh9f2GgEhp6E0Y    SczYGizuvBQoUmTaIgiSegcp4iSkJ5Y-3SwVzrBfMFI

He enjoyed driving through the tunnels and revving the engine so that you could really hear it rumble. I have to be honest, for a non-car girl like me….it sounded really cool! We came out on the other side of the tunnel and I couldn’t stop laughing. He looked at me and said, “why are you laughing?” Me: “I’ve never seen you with such a big smile on your face for so long before! I even think you have a bigger smile on your face now than you did when I walked down the aisle!” needless to say, he very much enjoyed himself, driving a sports car through the mountains!

Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep it, and we had to turn it in…..

Since we were down in Denver and both of our running shoes are shot, we went to find ourselves some new kicks! I have a love/hate relationship with running shoe shopping. I love all the new styles and colors, but I hate having two different size feet, and they always feel different when you try them on in the store, compared to when you run in them. But check out my new kicks!

I love all the bright colored shoes that are in style right now!

When we got home, we had to test them out. We took Telli over to Elk Meadow and went on a 4 mile hike! It was beautiful outside and the trails were pretty dry with only a couple muddy spots! It was a great way to get out and enjoy the beautiful day!

Do you enjoy shoe shopping? What is your favorite pair of kicks? Do you use a Garmin watch while you trail run/hike? I’m looking to get one for my birthday and would love recommendations!

<God Bless

Seafood Baked Pasta

Happy Saturday evening to you!

I got home from work this evening and although Nate was starving I was determined to get a quick workout in…..since I slept in this morning and really didn’t want to get out of bed. 😦

My legs have been killing me these last couple of days, so I figured it was time to do an arm circuit workout! For some reason I’ve always enjoyed working my arms….maybe because I hate flabby arms (and I’m starting to get them…), maybe it’s because I love the burning feeling I get in my arms when I work out and pushing through every single rep, maybe it’s because I’m used to my legs being sore, so it’s nice to have my upper body sore too…not sure, but regardless, I love working out my arms. Except pull-ups.

Here was my circuit workout:

I loved incorporating a 2 minute run into it again….it kicks up the heart rate and keeps it going!

This morning I was watching an episode of The Pioneer Women. Ree always makes delicious meals, but the one she had this morning had both Nate and I drooling and deciding immediatley exactly what we were going to plan for dinner. While I was at work, Nate went to the store to pick up the shrimp and scallops (the only ingredients we didn’t have hanging around our house)

After my workout we worked in the kitchen together to cook our meal! I love when we cook together, we have too much fun in the kitchen! So here is the recipe and if you want to see Ree’s recipe and her gorgeous pictures, click here. Or you can deal with my “oh I really don’t know anything about photography pictures!” Either way, ENJOY!

Seafood Baked Pasta

– 1/2 cup of olive oil (I know it sounds like a lot, but you’ll need it all to coat the pasta)

– 3 cloves of garlic chopped

– 3 – 14.5oz of diced tomatoes

– 1/2 cup white wine (I love when recipes have wine in them….not only to enhance the taste, but also to drink! 😉 )

– 2 lbs shrimp (we thawed 1 lb of shrimp the frozen ones so they were already deveined and tail free and 1 lb of scallops)

– salt and pepper

– fresh parsley, minced

– 1 lb of pasta-we used a cool looking squiggly one we had in the cabinets

– red pepper flakes to taste

Cook pasta pre-al dente. You want the pasta to still be firm because you will continue to bake it in the oven.

In a large skillet or pot heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for a minute. Dump in the can of tomatoes (with juice) and wine. Stir the mixture together, season with salt and pepper, and let it cook for ten minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare a large dish with aluminum foil lining it and enough extra to be able to wrap around the full pasta dish.

In a separate skillet, put in a tablespoon of butter (we used coconut oil instead). Once it is melted, seer (cook briefly on the outside) the shrimp and scallops.

Add the shrimp and scallops to the skillet with the sauce.

The noodles should only need to boil for about 3-4 minutes. Combine all the ingredients in with the sauce. Dump the entire mixture into the pre-made aluminum bowl. I used a 9×13 pan and just wrapped it in aluminum foil. Tightly wrap the foil into a parcel.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and keep warm

I made a side salad for us to enjoy while the pasta baked…

And TADA!!!! Our delicious Seafood Baked Pasta!!!! (My photography just doesn’t do it justice!)

It tasted just as good as it looks and it will definitely be a keeper recipe! It was so easy to make, and we were able to put 4 extra servings into tupperware containers to have for leftovers. I love making meals that give us leftovers!

After we let our food settle, we ended our wonderful evening by taking a walk around the neighborhood!

I hope you all have a great Saturday night! Nate and I are off to bed early because we have a fun adventure planned bright and early tomorrow morning that I can’t wait to share with you!

Are you somebody that likes leftovers or absolutely no leftovers?!?

quick butt kickin’ workout

Good morning and happy Friday to you all!

This week has been all about getting back into the workout of things after my fabulous weekend back home. Wednesday evening was warm with a little drizzle ,so I took Telli for  a nice long walk with an extra hill! I love walking through the rain! The fresh smell of spring in the air and the little drizzle on the face….it’s just the best! Yesterday’s workout was a interval treadmill workout followed by some abs…..and today…yes TODAY was a quick butt kickin’ circuit workout!

I hit the snooze button 1 more time and therefore had to cut back my workout from 30-40 minutes to no more than 20! I new I had to create a good workout to sweat a lot n 20 minutes! This was the first time I incorporated the treadmill (2 minute) run into a circuit…and boy did it feel good! Since the circuit workout was total body but really focused on the legs, my legs were jelly by the final run in the circuit and it felt great to complete that last two minute run! I came upstairs to stretch and I was huffin’ and puffin’ and nice and sweaty! I feel great after that workout!

For breakfast I made some quick eggs (3 egg whites and 1 yolk) scrambled and added some almond butter and banana to the plate to make it a well rounded breakfast!

ooooo….and I almost forgot (I just saw the picture when I uploaded the others), you are going to drool over the dinner we ate last night. I found a recipe that I knew I just had to try (even though I haven’t had meatloaf in about 20 some years, it sounded sooooo good, and boy it was delicious!)

We had BBQ meatloaf and corn (I will add the recipe this weekend!

I hope you all enjoy your Friday!

Do you incorporate the treadmill/running into your circuit workout to give it an extra boost?

❤ God Bless

First really nice day out…after winter

Good Evening!!!  What a fun filled day today was! (I don’t really have a recap of the last couple days because all I did was work, and who wants to hear about that)

Nate and I were so excited to go to church together this morning (sometimes it seems like we serve on opposite Sundays or we meet up half-way through service). It was a wonderful service under the series CROWDED. This was the final message in the series and boy it was a good one. Our church is all about bringing Christ into people’s lives and ultimately making heaven more crowded! I love that phrase, it makes me smile everytime time I hear and think about it! It  also hits our church as a double-whammy right now because we are getting more crowded which is wonderful, but of course with growth, comes growing pains. Today’s message was on if we are one with the church, we need to serve with the church. We need to share our stuff. We need to share the gifts God has given to us. We can’t just put money in the plate and expect to get everything we need from the church. We must participate, we must serve, we must share the gospel. I sat in my seat very thankful for the church that I love serving (and happy I volunteered yesterday to stay for the 11 am service, so I didn’t feel guilty about not serving after that message 😉 )

Which leads me into….the best form of birth control….working in “little rock” (Babies->4 year olds). Nate serves coffee and I serve in the little rock– Nate says if he would do little rock with me he would never want kids–I’m glad he didn’t serve with the kids today! Oh my gosh were the kiddos cranky today! I think of the 9 that were in my room, 5 were screaming bloody murder for mom and only wanted to be held! I was holding little Jemma and she was the last to settle down, so I was able to take her out of the room and rock with her…then she turned into quite the snuggler–so precious–but still exhausting! I love serving in little rock…although some days can be challenging it makes me happy knowing there are parents getting saved everyday, they are attending church and bringing their children to hear about God! It is such a wonderful ministry to teach kids at an early age to know and love Jesus and that they have a God the father that will love them forever!

When I got home, Nate had Telli already to go for a hike at the dog park! It was a beautiful day….and awesome to spend it with my family! It was pretty crowded so instead of letting her play in the pen area (there were some mean and aggressive dogs there) we took her to the off-leash hiking trails! She did so good staying with us and greeting other dogs and then continuing to follow us. She loved when we made the loop and came back to the creek! I forgot how much of a water-bug she is! Watching her jump in and out of the creek and up and down the hill was hilarious!

After a good hike, it was the perfect afternoon to grab a frozen yogurt at Menchies! Our favorite summer hangout (that sentence made me sound like a 12 year old!).

It was delicious…Nate enjoyed the cinnamon bun flavor with some toppings and I enjoyed the cake mix and cookies and cream yogurt with brownies, cookie dough chunks, chocolate covered sunflower seeds, and chocolate pebbles! Telli sat nicely next to the table as we enjoyed our frozen yogurt in the sun!

It was too beautiful outside to be inside when we got home so we laid out in the sun for a little while and then I did some tilling in the flower pot areas. I can’t plant any flowers yet, because more snow is expected this week, but I thought it would be good for the soil to take out all the old roots and mix it around a little bit! (I don’t really know if thats the right thing to do, because I definitely don’t have a green-thumb, but it seemed like a good idea!)

And now for dinner…….It’s GRILLING season!

Nate made some delicious burgers with feta cheese and jalapeños inside and I cut up some veggies and sweet potatoes! Oh, and we bought my favorite Wisconsin beer- Lienenkugels Summer Shandy!

We marinated the veggies in olive oil, salt, pepper, lemon juice and balsamic vinegar! mmmmm, some of the best grilled veggies I’ve ever had! Too bad I did burn the sweet potato fries, but the non-burnt ones still tasted really good!

Telli was really jealous of our meal….I think she wanted some….

That’s when she was patient and good…..

….and then she became like her father….very impatient when she doesn’t get the food she wants!

Well that wraps up today before we head into the work week tomorrow!

What are your favorite things to-do on the “first really nice day” after winter?!?!

❤ God Bless
