1 more day and its been too long!

I woke up a little more tired than normal this morning. But it’s nothing that a great sunrise and  cup of coffee can’t cure! On to “my Friday!” Yup today is my last day of work and it’s going to be such a hard day to get through because my best friend/sister/cousin is flying out to Denver with her husband to spend the weekend with us!

First off:

Here’s breakfast. Scrambled egg + avocado + tomatoes + homemade spicy mexican sauce (from a co-worker) + parmesan cheese. It was SOOO delish!

Last night while laying in bed, Nate asked the last time I saw her…..Oh my gosh-since our wedding?!?! for real? That is too much time to go by and not see each other!

Our history: Kendra and Caryn

We come from an amazing and very blessed family where I know I sound crazy, but we all get along! We love to plan large family gatherings (Thanksgiving, 4th of July, Labor day, New Years, etc..) and we spent so much time as a large family packed into my grandparents house in northern Wisconsin. There are 13 total grandkids and Caryn and I are the only girls. As you can imagine we’ve had a close bond since the very beginning. Caryn always talks about the day she got the phone call that my parents were having a baby girl! She was the second of the thirteen and between us came 6 boys……so she was ECSTATIC when I was born! We are 10 years and 10 days apart, so she was my role model and I always wanted to be like her..(dress like her, have the swooshy bangs like hers-although mine didn’t swoosh because I have thick hair and she has thin hair, act like her, have a room like hers…you get it) I loved when she came to the lake (my grandparents house as we call it). She would do my hair and let me join in with her and her friends on their little adventures. I have always been blessed to have such an amazing woman in my life!

We were each others maid of honors–and she was much better at it then me.

– I came home for her bridal shower and bachelorette party and ended up in the ER before the shower even started

– After driving all night back to Chicago I fell asleep before her on the night before her wedding! What is wrong with me?!??! You can’t fall asleep on the anxious bride that can’t sleep!

She still loves me!

And she was such an amazing maid-of-honor at my wedding! She planned the most amazing bridal shower and night with friends and family! (Yes, my gramma was at my bachelorette party and she danced the night away with me!)-I’ll try to find a picture….

I’m so excited that her and Jim have planned this trip out to see us! We are planning on taking many pictures so the next post will have many more pictures I’m sure!

I feel so blessed to have such an amazing family and an amazing cousin/sister/best friend in my life!

❤ God Bless

Good MONDAY morning!

I was so excited going to bed last night. After a fabulous weekend, Nate and I went to a new gym to checkout their fitness facility. We wanted to give it a try this morning to see how crowded it gets before purchasing a membership. Well we had full intentions of waking up early. Nate was up, ready to go! I on the other hand just wanted to sleep. I think I was too excited because I couldn’t fall asleep last night! Despite being in bed by 9:30, I remember looking at my clock at 2:38….

Needless to say…..no workout for me this morning, and I’m feeling pretty bummed about it..but I’m glad I was able to get an extra 1.5 hrs of sleep so I wasn’t completely exhausted all day….and all week!

I am running a little late so to get you caught up on the weekend, here is a photo post!

In reverse order:

For breakfast I made some eggs with leftover hash browns and a banana with Almond Butter! (Our first time buying it, and I must say it tastes pretty darn good!)

I made overnight oats last night for lunch today. I used the remaining peanut butter, so I gave the jar to Telli as a special treat to lick!

I think the peanut butter gave her a sugar high! She was crazy on the couch doing somersaults and just playing! She was pretty cute!

We tried another 1st! Spaghetti Squash! It was SOOO good, I don’t know if we will ever make regular pasta again! We mixed it with tomatoes, feta cheese, onion and garlic!

I took Telli to the dog park. She was pretty sad that there were no dogs to play with, but we were able to go for a short hike!

Telli girl LOVES the snow!

Nate made me a Chai Tea latte, and it was DELISH!!!

Telli loves to play with her ropes!

The guys at work ordered Pizza Hut for lunch on Saturday and ordered chocolate dippers along with it! I had never had any before and I must admit Chocolate covered breadsticks that you dip again in chocolate….mmm…mmmmm…good!

For lunch on Saturday I ate some delicious Minestrone soup!

I hope this post finds you well and you all have a better Monday morning start than I did. Time to get ready for work!

❤ God Bless

Wine time!

Good morning all!

One of my best friends is up to visit this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited! I came home from work last night and Nate already had dinner cooking and Victoria had the wine pouring! Great way to spend aFriday night if you ask me! Victoria brought over a delicious bottle of a red blend.

The tv was of course turned on to March Madness. I had another upset, Villanova lost… 😦 That was in addition to my Wisconsin loss too.. Victoria was surprised by how into March Madness I was. I can’t help it!

Nate was in the process of making dinner while Victoria drank down the wine and chatted as we do best! While I was sick, Nate and I were watching a Pioneer Woman episode and she was making Patty Melts! I had never eaten a Patty Melt before and although they are extremely unhealthy, I really wanted to try one. So Nate made them for us last night as well as sweet potato fries!

We pretty much enjoyed a night of wine and chatting after that!

Oh and some snuggling with my Telli girl!

I love how her little paw is over her face…so precious!

Well a snow storm is going through so I need to leave  for work earlier than normal. I hope you all have a great day!

What is your favorite way to spend a Friday night?

❤ God Bless

Good morning to a completely random post! :)

I hope you all are having a fabulous morning! I on the other hand, I’m very tired…..I love March Madness…but it keeps me up too late!

It was what it was Wednesday

Well, “It is what it is Wednesday” was kind of a bust, and I apologize..however, I will just be real over what went on the last couple days…I was tired. Long work days, with a small workout, all I wanted to do was come home and lay on the couch for an hour before going to bed. That’s ok, right? So this compilation is an overview of my days..

Well because I was so tired I decided to make Peanut Butter Oatmeal Oats! They were SO delicious! I have a serious addiction to the combination of peanut butter and chocolate, so the fact I can mix them for breakfast..mmm..mm..delish!

I have to thank Julie again at Peanut Butter Fingers for this recipe. Oatmeal Cookie Dough Overnight Oats . Nate took some with him to work and at about 10:30 I received a text, “These overnight oats are SOOOO good! We need to make a big batch tonight!” I guess he liked his breakfast! I highly recommend this recipe if you are also a peanut butter lover and like quick, easy breakfasts ready for you in the morning.

(I know the mixing bowl is huge, I didn’t want to dirty a dish-just to make it look pretty!)

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookie Dough Overnight Oats

  • 3/4 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup milk of your choice (I used Vanilla Soy milk) + another splash in the morning
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar (Honey or stevia will also work)
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (Do not omit or the oats will not thicken)
  • Optional toppings: Honey roasted peanuts, fresh berries, shredded coconut, chocolate chips, almonds, etc.

  1. Stir all ingredients together in a bowl
  2. Allow the bowl to sit overnight in the refrigerator
  3. In the morning, add a splash of milk and stir everything together again
  4. Top with honey roasted peanuts, additional peanut butter, fresh berries, etc (I topped my with almonds and mini chocolate chips!)

I love where I live and am so blessed to see so many wildlife everywhere! On my way to work on Wednesday there was a huge herd of elk just chillin’ in the meadow! They were everywhere!

I hate running. I have never enjoyed running, but I continue to try and enjoy the sport. A few times I have been able to “get in the zone” running and I do enjoy it, but rarely! So I’m trying..My goal is to be able to run through the meadow (where all the elk are) this summer! I love hiking in the areas around my house, but I know I could get a much better workout and Telli would have a blast if I became a “trail runner.” So for now, I’m doing small intervals on the treadmill to build my endurance up and on the weekends I head to the hiking areas to do some running/hiking!

After my treadmill workout on Thursday I made another favorite breakfast! It’s so simple and delicious!

eggs + toast + avocado

Work has been pretty stressful lately and without getting into details, lets just say that I am enjoying the “small victories.” Well I just got this homemade (office made) Thank you card in the mail! Isn’t it adorable! It made my day.

March Madness

After work last night, our office went to a local bar to watch some of March Madness! I love March Madness. At no other point during the entire year do I watch any basketball. But, I love the excitement that March Madness brings to the game! I love that the players are putting everything on the line, every game! And I love watching the underdogs beat the big dogs! But it always puts me in trouble in my bracket. I want to take down all the top dogs (fill out an under dog brackets) but I know I wouldn’t win..so I kind of do half-and half and hope I pick a couple good ones! I’ve got Louisville, Florida, Butler and New Mexico going to the Final Four…. and New Mexico already was a bracket buster.. 😦 bad choice.

Anyone else loving March Madness? Who do you have going to the Final Four?

I hope you all have a wonderful FRIDAY!!!

❤ God Bless

Coconut Milk.

First, I have to ask..Is anyone else addicted to Biggest Loser like I am? I love the stories, I love the transformations and I love how you watch each person learn how to love themselves again. I was a fan of Danni all season, so I couldn’t help to not only squeal in excitement when she walked out and looked fabulous, but also when she won by one-pound! It was also great to see how great the kids did! I am a huge supporter of overcoming child-hood obesity and the fact that there are kids out there that NEED to lose 40+ lbs is crazy to me! I loved the way the producers incorporated the children in this season. Not just trying to get them to be active and not necessarily “workout” but be active doing something they enjoy! I think my favorite comment was from Bingo when he said, “I have so much fun being active, I don’t have time anymore to play video games!” Good for you Bingo, that’s what being a kid should be doing!

So I went to bed last night with great intentions of waking up to go skiing today. It’s getting close to the end of the season, and I haven’t been able to get to go as often as I would like, so I wanted to advantage of my day off. Well when I woke up, the wind was howling!!! Nate called and told me it was a bear to walk from his car to the bus stop, trying not to get blown over. This quickly diminished my plans of skiing.  So I turned on the TODAY show and made me a delicious breakfast of Toast+Egg+Avocado+Banana+Coffee!

But then I felt guilty, I checked the weather at the resort, and it didn’t seem too bad. So off I drove–hoping I wasn’t going to waste a morning. (I knew if the weather was bad, or really windy, I would turn around, or sit in the lodge and drink hot cocoa 🙂 )

Look at all this snow that is piled up on the side of the road! (Don’t judge me for taking a picture while driving, I did slow down and there were no cars around me… 😉 )

I parked myself at A-Basin and had such a great time! There is something about going to a mountain by yourself. Don’t get me wrong, I love to go with Nate or other friends, but when you are by yourself, you can do whatever you please, wherever you please at whatever pace you want. I rode the chairlift and searched for the good snow! About 3-4″ came last night, so it made the conditions incredible! It was a little windy, but sunny blue skies made up for it! I did take one spill, right under the chairlift, but it was in pure powder—so it was fun! 🙂

aqWitr6PgTnoIbmUl9F9PKuXx54UeQRQrN5lEaCL89E vrE4yNAJVBXSmyxSjSAQnRRR0ChxQircnmw__oQAjo0

I had a lot to get done on my day off too, so I left A-Basin around 11:30 so I could be home by 12:30 and on to everything by 1! Telli was so excited I was home, she didn’t let me take a second, or a nap…she made sure I was out the door with her by 1! I ran my errands with Telli- she did great in the car and then we went to the dog park! She not only chased dogs around for a long time, but we took a 2 mile hike in an area that dogs can be off leash! She did SO good! She always stayed within 20 ft of me and when we passed other dogs, she said hi, and then continued on! I was SO proud of her, especially after our last park experience! There were a couple icy patches that I thought I was for sure going down on…but I scooted like a penguin across them and managed to stay on my feet!

v6L5JFv-1RF67jDqkowCJyUiT_QZmZFYpB41565sv4A She was wiped!

By the time Nate got home tonight, I had laundry going, the kitchen and living area clean and dinner cooking!! He said he could get used to this. I wish I could be home from work every night to make him dinner!!! But I’ll have to say, I made a pretty darn good dinner!

It was my first time using coconut milk! I kind of combined two recipes off of two blogs I follow (Julie @ PBFingers and Jessica @ How sweet it  is). See, Nate hates brussel sprouts, probably like most of you. But I LOVE them and wanted to cook with them. So I was hoping with the sweetness of the coconut milk they would taste better for Nate to eat them. I thought they were delicious, but Nate put all his onto my plate..oh well, it was worth the shot!  Anyway, it was very simple. I sautéed chopped onions in coconut milk and olive oil in one pan. In the other pan I put the brussel sprouts with olive oil and coconut milk on a higher heat and let them caramelize. I used pre-cooked chicken, so I added that to the pan with coconut milk and onions as well as a bag of frozen green beans. I let that all cook together while the brussel sprouts caramelized. I then combined it all together and Viola! It was a delish dinner!

Time to relax with the hubby!

Have you tried anything new in your recipes lately, like my coconut milk?

Happy St. Patty’s Day!

Happy St. Patty’s Day! I was just telling Nate, I had such a fun weekend, and I had to work all day on Saturday. Must mean we did a lot in the last 24 hours! I’ve always liked the idea of St. Patricks day, but i’ve never really “experienced” St. Patricks Day the way others do. Throughout college, I was on the diving team and St. Patricks day always fell either the week before or during NCAA nationals. Green beer was frowned upon at that time. 😉 Since then, I guess I’ve become a wuss when it comes to drinking in really large crowds, I don’t enjoy it. I would prefer to go to a smaller, local bar with a small group of friends where you can converse and enjoy a green beer, rather than be crowded and spilling green beer everywhere. Well we had quite the day today that ended with some green beer!

This morning started wonderful! Telli let us sleep in until 7:40! That never happens. She is used to waking up between 5:30-6:00, therefore if we get to sleep in until 6:30, we’re pretty lucky! I was craving some eggs, so we we made these delicious eggs topped with spinach, cherry tomatoes and feta cheese! And of course, a side of coffee!

We took a walk down to one of the local “parks.” After Telli’s bad behavior at Washington park a couple days ago, we decided we need to try to train her in a more public area. Once again, she was terrible! I think Nate understood how frustrated I was on Wednesday with our walk. She pulled every which direction. Needless to say, I think we will be spending a lot of time at this park in the near future to help train her around people, dogs and strollers.

Then it was time for her favorite thing….BATH TIME! She hates it. We take her to our local pet store, you can use all their equipment and supplies for $5! Totally worth it! I didn’t get any pictures during, although it would’ve been amusing, because we were just trying to hold her down the entire time-water, soap and black hair were everywhere!

She does enjoy right after the bath. We call it “Telli Towel Time!!!!!!” and she gets SO excited! She runs around the room and we put towels all over her in a playful way to begin the drying process….

NbcnXfnsYzurIRzGCz2tQAOsR9LaKk_DGCNrCLQ3fz4 NiSGknDhmDnF5v4KwcApfPeYh0cnLkKgXHE0JgRmoWs

Here is her second favorite part, getting blow dried at the end….I think it’s the sound of the dryer, she just doesn’t like it. I think this picture even shows how happy she is right now!

This afternoon, we went down to Belmar in west Denver to enjoy some green beer with friends! It was a little chilly outside, but the sun made it feel much warmer than it was, so we were able to sit on the patio! Like I said earlier, this was my first official green beer! When I have gone out for a beer or two before on St Patricks day, it’s either all gone, or they are not offering it. We were all pretty excited about it! We also enjoyed a nice little entree of fish and chips! It was so good! Definitely English, but from the same continent right?

And, I know it’s kind of random to have a cheese platter on St. Patricks day (not quite corn beef and cabbage) but with two girls from Wisconsin, we saw they had this as a special and HAD to get it! It was SO good!

Nothing like beer and cheese to make a Wisconsin girl happy! 🙂

Did anyone eat anything that was just so delicious but not quite “St. patty’s day approved?”

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Cafe Brazil

What a fun night! We were invited to dinner by two wonderful couples in our small group, Christina & Eric and Jeremy and Leslie.  What a great night of food and fellowship as we had the opportunity to get to know both couples more!

It was also a new night for me. I consider it to be my first of many “blogging dinners.” I’m still getting used to taking pictures of everything I eat and do. Well, I forgot about it tonight until the food came out and it just looked SO good, I wanted to take a picture of it. I asked, “do you mind if I take a picture of my food for my blog?” 🙂 After that I wasn’t scared. So thanks to Jeremy, Leslie, Christina and Eric; I also enjoyed my first blogging dinner! (I do need to apologize for my food picture skills….according to Nate, I need to do a better job, because the pictures just don’t do the food justice!)

They had heard great things of the restaurant we went to, Cafe Brazil. What a great decision! It is located on the west side of Denver in a quaint little neighborhood. When I walked in I felt like I was back on my honeymoon. (We didn’t go to Brazil, but it had a similar vibe to the Dominican Republic with the “Caribbean music, bright colors and fun drinks that I imagined were in a coconut!) Besides looking out at the construction taking place outside, you could’ve plopped this place in the middle of somewhere down south, on a beach, with blue ocean water across the way!

We got the menu and OH My GOSH….it was over whelming! I mean I love to try new foods, but I’m always hesitant and it takes me forever when I don’t understand what the title of the dish is. I need to read through all the descriptions on every entree and all the drinks! There were so many great sounding options! I made some very good decisions on dinner and I believe everybody at my table enjoyed a wonderful meal as well.

I started with a Batida: A sweet cocktail featuring a choice of spiced rum or cachaça* shaken with my choice of tropical fruit.  The first tropical juice I chose was the Mango followed by the Blackberry! The best drinks I’ve had in a long time! (Besides the glass or two of wine that regardless taste good after a long day at work!) 😉 This is a picture of the Blackberry Batida. I think they used real, fresh blackberries and mangos–not just processed juice! Delish! I could’ve drank many more to enjoy all the flavors, but I didn’t want to end up on the floor–and probably not the best choice in caloric intake either, but hey–who said I was counting calories tonight!

We all got different appetizers and I enjoyed the calamari and soup (and the soup was free!)

When the waiter came around for entree decisions I did what I always do and wait until the last minute and then pick on instinct! He told me it was the spiciest thing on the menu. I began to doubt my decision and asked, “how spicy?” He said, “pretty spicy—I would say medium spicy to most brazilian foods.” Great answer waiter…..this is my first time eating brazilian food, not sure what thats suppose to mean. I asked him is it was possible to tone the spiciness down on the entree.  mmmmmmmm….it was perfect! Not the picture, the meal! The vegetables (Zuchinni, Red Peppers & Carrots) were stacked around the rice, prawns and scallops. It reminded me of building link-in-logs around my toys when I was little! And for you foodies out there this is the real description of the food.

LA CALEÑA — Large prawns and sea scallops simmered in a sweet hot sauce of fresh-diced tomato, mango, passion fruit, green onion and Italian Parsley, finished with Brazilian Chile’s. Served with herbed rice and vegetables.

It was SOOOOOO good! Definitely better than anything I could’ve cooked for Nate and I!

And now for dessert…..I typically don’t get dessert because I am so full from the meal that I know I won’t enjoy the dessert to it’s full potential. BUT….I heard the waiter say a dessert option of Chocolate and Hazelnut Gelato. Waiter…you had me at GELATO!! I LOVE gelato! It’s so smooth in texture and very light feeling for being ice cream….so we indulged and had the great tasting gelato!

Nate and I are so blessed to have wonderful new friends from our small group! We had such a great time getting to know them and enjoying delicious food! We cant wait until our next dinner out, we we’re already discussing some possible options….Hops n Pie anyone?!?!

Do you consider yourself a foodie? Like to try new foods? or keep it simple?

❤ God Bless

Thank God for wonderful, amazing, honest people…..

Have you ever lost something that you knew you made the mistake in losing and didn’t know if you were going to find it again?

Nate and I went through the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University course last fall. I must say for two spenders, we are doing very well and we are very proud of it! Granted, sometimes its really hard. Like when I see the cutest shirt, or pair of shoes but I know we’ve already spent our clothing money, I have to wait until our next pay day and “budget meeting.” (make sure the wine bottle is near by) 😉 The cool thing about this however is that before if I saw something I liked or thought I liked, I bought it…and then it sits in my closet and I never wear it. Having only so much money to spend, allows me to go shopping and find things I LOVE and if I don’t love anything, then I go home empty handed and save the money so I have more to spend on the next shopping trip!

Here is the wonderful Dave Ramsey envelope system……

I know it seems old school, but it works! At least for Nate and I. When you see the cash disappear between your fingers, it’s much harder to spend than swiping the debit card. We have different envelopes for Groceries, Telli, Clothing, Entertainment, Car Repair/Insurance and Home Repair. The last two categories are the big categories. We don’t use these often, but every pay day we are putting money into them, because car and home repairs cost a lot of money and the whole point is to be prepared for them, instead of being a surprise!

Nate called me on Thursday night at work and said, “have you seen the envelopes around?” I began to have doubt in my mind, because I knew he wouldn’t call me unless he really couldn’t find them….and I had no idea where they could be, and I knew there was a lot of money in there between the home repair and car repair envelopes.

I got home on Thursday and we picked our brain….when was the last time we took money out. Kohls!

We looked at our Kohls receipt to see when that was…..March 3rd!

Did we drive my car or Nates car to Kohls……My car! (crap…to make a long story short, I am provided with a  company car for work, but every couple nights it changes…)

March 3rd was the same day our good friends Andrea and Aaron came up to go ice skating on the lake and have a couple beers. Nate remembered making the comment, “hey look, you have twin Nissan Rogues!”

Ah-ha….I knew what car it was in, I just didn’t know where that car had gone….

After making a couple calls on Friday at work, a client had actually picked up that vehicle and when I called her, the envelopes were still in the glove box! I drove right down completely on the other side of Denver, to her house, picked up a bottle of wine and thank you card on the way and picked up my envelopes! She was such a sweet girl, loves the wine, and told me she was glad I called because if she had found that down the road and didn’t know who it belonged to, she would’ve freaked out not knowing what to do with it!

Thanks so much Ms….you were honest and amazing! I Thanked God many times on my drive home that sometimes we see so much bad in the world, that we forget there are many wonderful and honest people. I’m glad my envelopes were in the hands of an honest amazing woman!

Have you ever lost something, and recovered by a stranger?

God Bless ❤

It is what it is Wednesday!

Wow! What a day..and great day at that! I know it doesn’t make sense with the title, but I had an idea that I will get to at the bulk of my post. But as a quick recap of the day…..

I had the day off! I was so excited because I had a doctor’s appointment in Denver that is close to one of my favorite parks, Washington Park! It is such a great park to enjoy when it is beautiful outside. In the summer on any given day there will be many groups of people with kickball, volleyball, softball, etc. going on. I was very surprised with how many people were there at 11 am this morning! I mean really? What do you do for work that you are there running/biking/rollerblading/walking/sitting in the park! There were SO many people! I even took Telli down for a road tip to the park. I knew she would love it, but she loved it more than I was expecting!! She had so much fun but was not on her best behavior. There were too many new smells, dogs, strollers, ducks, geese and people compared to what we are used to at the parks near our house. Her training went out the window and she tried pulling me everywhere! So my much anticipated run turned more into a walk/stand to make her stop pulling and wait until I told her we could continue. I laughed because I was able to use my new app that I spoke about in an earlier post. Map My Fitness! The only thing with today, it told me my pace was an 18.55 minute mile…..no bueno Telli, too much stopping for you!

B2ybXTqTIMopGTjKxNQo94oL0rKGo3NHfq0PviIXpc8,WA1FrPB6RrdNkOq30Zr20ahGrpPP00p63OnreAKWLSM NiWG9O-9hEqOF10Mp-0LzMlr4PWFPhnnUaxADYEVjfc SvE55XnYbaf1v1Q6gR36wooe_9XT_WrqGgDlMx4MVtc,5kHv6r8sKzX_M9WgI-IIGg0oqS2qoe6NhTL1H7ZJ49I

She did have fun and was worn out the rest of the afternoon.

While I was sick I was watching some Pioneer Woman episodes. On one episode that Nate was around for, she made chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches!!! Nate loves chocolate chip cookies! I wanted to thank him for taking SUCH GREAT CARE OF ME while I was sick and so today I made him the ice cream cookie sandwiches! They turned out really good!

Here is a picture….but as you can see, I started eating it before I remembered to take the picture…..Mmmmm…..mmmm it was good!

And for dinner I made the it’s so simple to make and delicious to eat—Noodles with tomatoes, onions and pesto! It’s SOOO good, and SOOOO easy!

And now for the heart of this post:

Nate and I are in a small group with young couples from our church. We love it and it gives us the opportunity to be vulnerable and real with people. There are couples at all different stages of life (kids, no kids, pets, careers, health problems) so it’s a great way to get to know people and have great, well-rounded discussions. I named this post “It is what it is Wednesday” because I am making a commitment to every Wednesday be REAL with my readers. Not that I am ever not real but it’s easy to only post the good things that happened that day or week, or to only post the good pictures. But this is my commitment to show you the messy days, the imperfect days, the imperfections of me….

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” –Marianne Williamson

In our small group discussion tonight we talked about how dissatisfied people are with their own lives not because of who they are, but because of who everybody else is. We live in a society of social media and perfect pictures and perfect posts on Instagram and Facebook. We see others as they are on the outside–the package their wrapped in. But we never truly see their gift that God gave them; that is what we need to look at, their inner-being. But because we only look at their outside (the Facebook posts and Instagram pictures) their life will seem to be so much better than our own. They seem to be doing more with their life, we want to be like them but don’t know how and why we need to be…but now we feel dissatisfied with our own life. As a society we only post the things that we want others to see and not our imperfections. We don’t want people to see the broken hearts and the voids in our soul. If I want you to read about me and get to know me, I want you to know of my imperfections too….because there are A LOT! So from now on it will be called; IT IS WHAT IT IS WEDNESDAY.

God Bless

Sick Days….. :(

Yes that’s what the last couple days and today is….no fun! I know nobody enjoys being sick, but I feel like there are people out there that are much better at being sick. I am lucky in the sense that I (knock on wood) don’t get sick very often; maybe once a year. However, that means when I am sick…I’m miserable. I complain. I whine. I just want to lay in bed all day and not do a single thing. Luckily, I have an amazing husband who like me, doesn’t get sick very often, so is the exact same as me when he is sick. It’s a good partnership because we both take such great care of each other when we are sick…and this time, it was my turn to get taken care of!!

And if being sick and cooped up isn’t bad enough, we got dumped on with snow on Saturday! 12″+!!!!! I love *SNOW*. I could play in the snow all the time!!! Unfortunately I haven’t even been outside in 48 hours now. It is currently 50 degrees and the snow is melting fast….I guess I will need to wait until the next snow storm to go sledding and play with Telli in the snow! Telli did have fun with dad in the snow while he snowplowed the driveway!

Look at her cute face covered in snow!! She loves to lick and bite the snow!

On Thursday, the day before I got sick, I downloaded the MapMyFitness app! I love to have apps that show distance, inclines and times. There are so many routes I can take where I live and they all have such a different terrain because I do live in the foothills. Or since, most of my “workouts” are hiking related it’s nice to have an app to show my distance and terrain covered. Since I’ve downloaded it, I haven’t been able to workout once! I’ve been on the couch surrounded by Kleenex and water… I can’t wait to use it!

And now for my favorite things when I am sick………….

My hubby taking wonderful care of me when I am sick! He knows what will make me very happy….Sour Patch Kids are my weakness! 😉

My Telli girl; she makes a great couch snuggle buddy during the day!

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup!

Frozen banana, cocoa, and oats! — That feels great on the throat!

Sleepy-time Chamomile Tea— So soothing and only tastes good when it is steaming hott!!!

And for breakfast this morning, since I was feeling a little better…I made toast with eggs and Avocado!! mmmmm….mmmm..delish!!

And my favorite face lotion of all is also the best cure for a dry nose and lips!

I hope this is my last day sick. I think it’s time for some more chicken noodle soup!!! Yum-Yum!!!

What are your favorite things when you are sick? Are you good at being sick or miserable and whine like me? 😉

God Bless ❤
